Year 1 completed some fantastic Harvest homework last week.
Read MoreThe school community celebrated Harvest Festival together with parents and families. We learned about harvests around the world and talked about all the good things harvest brings us. We then thought about the trouble with harvest and realised the need to be able to preserve food for later. Some children helped to check and wrap apples to put away for later in winter, some exercised their muscles and turned cream into butter to preserve milk for longer and finally two brave children peeled onions ready to be pickled! We then remembered how lucky we are to have enough food, and thought of those who grow our food and of all the people around the world who are celebrating the harvest just as we are. To conclude our assembly we linked preserving food for the future to preserving good memories or actions from the past to relive again throughout our lives.
