Pond Dipping at Fairburn Ings
Nicola Sheerin
Yangtze had a fantastic morning! We learnt all about a wetland habitat and the minibeasts that live in and around a pond. We dipped and caught water louse, blood worms, dragon fly nymphs, water boatmen, great diving beetles, pond skaters and pond snails. We looked at them closely with magnifiers and used a spotters guide to identify them. We also learn't about 3 and 4 step life-cycles. We discovered how important these mini beasts are for life to exist on our planet.
