LKS2 Science Club

At Science Club we have been conducting investigations using items we might fine in our kitchen cupboards.

When were the ancient Greeks around?

Annabel Presley

In Year 4, we wanted to find out when the ancient Greek civilisation lived. To understand how long ago it was, we made a timeline from the present day back to the time of the ancient Greeks (800-146BC). We put on the time periods and events that we learnt about in Year 1,2 and 3. We were amazed at how far back in time had to travel!

Designing water towers

Annabel Presley

After reading the book ‘The Water Tower’ in Zambezi, we designed and made our own paper water towers. We thought about the shapes we would use to make our structures as strong as possible. The strongest water tower held a tub of water for over three minutes!

Ancient Greek pottery

Annabel Presley

In Year 4, we made pinch pots using clay. We looked at a variety of ancient Greek pots, created our own key patterns and painted these onto our pots. Some of our patterns were very intricate and we needed to use a fine brush for the details.

Celebrating RE festivals in Reception

Laura Robertson

In Reception we have learnt and heard a story about Sita and Rama for Diwali. Some of the activities we did are: paint a picture of the ten headed demon, observational drawing of a Diva lamp and made Diwali cards.

We also learnt about advent and the Christmas story. Using pastels we created the advent wreath. After reading the Christmas story we answered some key questions.
