Year 6 - Murton Park
Poppy Brown
Mississippi class thoroughly enjoyed their trip to Murton Park to experience a Viking Day. We started off by dressing up as Vikings and learning that the Vikings were: sailors, raiders, traders, settlers, farmers and craftsman. We then made our way to the Viking village to be greeted by a Viking lady and a Lord. We carried out lots of different activities throughout the day. We ground wheat to make bread, we collected wood on a cart for the fire, we made oil lamps out of clay and decorated them in Viking runes and patterns, we found out how to protect the settlement by learning how to use a spear and shield and we got the chance to explore the different houses. We finished off with as Viking banquet in the great hall with the Lord who allowed us to tell jokes and riddles for entertainment. It is safe to say that we are now Viking experts!
