Zambezi Drumming!
Nicola Sheerin
We are enjoying learning to play the djembe drums and we are already improving! We can now read notation (notes and symbols) to play some really complicated rhythm patterns. We also make different sounds by using the edge for the drum for the lighter notes and the middle for the bass notes. It is isn't easy and we have to concentrate hard to make sure we all play in time - we have even tried playing in 2-parts! We have also used the notation cards to create our own patterns - some are really tricky - especially when we include the 'butterfly' symbol! We will have to keep working hard to make sure we are ready for our drum performance in December! (Have a look in our class Learning Gallery photos of our notation cards)
