Our visit to Leeds Central library
Nicola Sheerin
We took Paddington to the library to see an exhibition of Nick Sharratt’s illustrations. We really liked the different images, the bright colours and the funny rhymes. We also liked the way Nick ‘tricked’ us in Shark in the Park where the shark is hiding in the pond at the end of the book. After enjoying our lunch in the library (Paddington ate marmalade) we went on an owl hunt! We spotted lots of different owls around Millenium Square. There were owls on the cathedral, the library, the museum and the war memorial. We saw tapestry owls on the Leeds tapestry and of course the amazing golden owls on the Civic Hall.
We used our maps to make sure we didn’t get lost and we talked about the human and physical features we could see in the city centre.
We even had time to pop into the Art Gallery for a quick look at some amazing art work.
We all want to return to the library and the Art Gallery so we’ll be asking our parents to take us during the holiday. Remember - visiting the library and Art Gallery is FREE!!!
