Computing in Year 2
Michael Sheerin
Do you have any digital devices at home? Can you describe how you control them?
These are some of the questions that year 2 have been thinking about in their computing lesson.
Year 2 understand that a digital device is controlled by a computer. A computer follows a list of instructions called a program. We have been creating a list of instructions (a program) for a Beebot to follow.
A Beebot is a programmable toy, it needs instructions to control how it moves. It can move forward, backwards, turn clockwise and anti-clockwise.
First the pupils pretended to be a Beebot and followed programs written by other pupils to move around a grid. Then they played Beebot board games, which required the children to create and enter a program into a Beebot to move it to the correct location. Take a look at the pictures.
