Pointillism - Year 6
Michael Sheerin
These fabulous pictures created by pupils in Year 6 are on display in the IT-suite. They were created using Purple Mash ‘2paint-a-picture’ and made using dots of pure colour.
This ‘painting by dots’ technique is called ‘Pointillism’ a revolutionary painting technique pioneered by Georges Seurat and Paul Signac in Paris in the mid-1880s. The pupils have looked at the paintings by Seurat and Signac and discussed how the dots of colour blend to create a striking image.
The computer enabled the pupils to experiment quickly with the technique to get the desired effect. I’m sure Signac and Seurat would have enjoyed using a computer to create their own artwork!
