Egyptian Music!
Nicola Sheerin
Year 1 are composers and performers!
We wrote the words to our own Egyptian themed song ’Tutankhamun was a king’ to the tune of Polly put the kettle in.
Then we chose different instruments for each verse. We chose to play cymbals and tambourines for the first verse because they make long sounds and they reminded us of kings. We played agogos and triangles for the second verse and chose claves for the third because they sounded like Howard Carter tapping on the stone to open the tomb!
Then we practised and performed our composition.
After all that, we then used Howard Carter’s fly and beetle cards to create our our rhythmic patterns.
