Making the perfect pizza
Michael Sheerin
The pizza we're all familiar with, the kind with tomato sauce, cheese, and toppings, we all know originated in Italy.
We discovered that in 1889, to honour the Queen of Italy, Margherita of Savoy, the Neapolitan pizza-maker Raffaele Esposito created the "Pizza Margherita", a pizza covered with tomatoes, mozzarella, and basil, to represent the colours on the Italian flag. We decided we would like to learn how to make the perfect "Pizza Margherita" so where better to go than Pizza Express.
Pizza expert Sid showed us how it was done and we all had a tasted pizza to bring back to school.
