Textiles in Victorian Times
Poppy Brown
Mississippi class have been finding out all about textiles in the Victorian times, knitting in particular. We found out that knitting is based on woollen loops being passed over each other on two or more needles and that knitting is used to make a wide variety of clothing. We learnt lots of different vocabulary related to knitting and textiles including: needles, crochet, stitches, moss, urbanisation and mechanisation. We then used our learning to make our own knitted piece which we used to decorate some of the trees in our school grounds. It was tricky to do human knitting but extremely fun.
